: Important from Washington. j Washington, June 21. Col. Kane arrived here on last evening, bringing dispatches from Gov. Cumming, whom he left at Camp Scott on, the 16th of May. They were delivered to the President Their tmrport has not offi cially transpired ; but it is ascertained that many of the accounts with' which the public mind has been prejudiced, are erroneous and calculated to deceive the country in respect to Utah matters generally. : - JTo' this fact may be attributed the refusal of -Col Kane to rommnnift.i with the President. -t It is understood that CoL Kane denies the truth of the telegraph announcement from Bobn yitle, intimating-that the army would move on the arrival of the Peace Com missioners ; when, in fact, Governor Cnmniincr .has requested it to remain where it is until orders shall have been received from "Washington. - Contrary to the reports widely cir cnlated, CoL-Kane does not admit that there has been any snch want of :har; tnony between Gov. Cumming a...

E23S3&C . ' From the Knickerbocker. Ladies's Stoctlngs- i. . , . A clothes line in yonder garden Goes wandering among the trees, And on it two very long stockings Are kicking the erening breeze ; ' And a lot of fancy dry goods, r . Whose nature I cannot divine, Are wildly and merrily flapping About on that same old line. e. And a very fly yoong lady At the parlor window sews ; And I rather "conclude, if you tried it, You'd find she'd fit into ' them hose." She's only a half-length picture, Fore-shorteued below the breast ; But the dry goods which dance on the tight rope Out yonder, just make op the rest. in. So dream-like she seems, so gentle.
