The Weather for July* The average temperature as kept by Mr. John W. Fox, Sr., was for July n? follows: 7 a. m., 61.6 degrees; 2 p. m., 78.7 degrees; 9 p. m., 63;7 degrees; Maxima 82.7 degrees; Minima 57.6 degrees, Grand average of all for the mouth 6r.,5. Tfce highest temperaturo recorded was 88.0 on Jnly 22d, and the lowest 49.5 on July 9th. The total rain-fall was 4.01 inches, the larg? est amount on any one day being 1.24 inches Ott July 23d. K., about fifty miles eastward from Big Stone Gap, at a beautiful location on the bank3 of Clinch River, surrounded at a short dis? tance with h?ls and mountains full of coal and iron ore and covered with dense forests of vamable timber. Ft*h in Yellowstone Park. Mr. ,J. F. Bullitt, Jr., who hag just re? turned from en extensive trip through Yellowstone Park, gives some remarkable accounts of the fishing in that section. He says that in one morning in company with his father and brother be caught eighty-eight trout, averaging one and a half pounds each. MAYOR'S COCRT. A. BI? Rotors Fined Five Dollars for Heat? ing: a Man With a Pistol. The trial of A. M. Rogers for an as? sault on one Welch on the night of the 22nd instant, was held before Mayor Bul litt on last Saturday. It seems that Rogers claimed to be an acting policeman on the night mentioned, and hearing the firing of a pistol in the neighborhood of Nickel's store went in that direction to arrest the party doing the shooting. He ran upon two men going in the direction of Nickel's store; one of these was Welch and the other was a man named Reed. Reed, on seeing the policeman, ran off, and Welch kept on in the direction of the store. Rogers fol? lowed him up. Welch turned and come back and demanded of Rogers why he was following him. Rogers claimed that he was in pcrsuit of the man who did the shooting. Welch took hold of Rogers and told him to go back and not to follow him.
