M ALDREDGE OR THE ISSUES Of THIS CAMPAIGN. Now what is the issue In this cam- paign? I want to tell you first WHAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. They say that the bird sings a long war from its nest. They try to get you to follow the ignis fatuus of a commis- sion; they are frying to inject that false issue into the campaign. Tom Brown, at Whitesboro, said, "The life of the commission is involved." Ball said the same thing last night at Weatherford. Both of these men are good lawyers, and let me tell you that they made that statement in the face of these facts. [Applause.] Last year the people of Texas adopted a constitutional amend- ment with reference to the commission; Sut a commission into the constitution. Tow, it is part of the fundamental law of the land, and all of the governors of the world could not get it out. It is on the statute book, and forty governors could not veto it off.
