It is said an effort will be made by interested parties to prqvent nomina- tions being mflde for county office's, by the Democratic county comen- tion, for the coming election. Parties cannot be maintained without adher- ing to some rule of organization, and it has been a rule of the party for nearly sixty years that its clioice of men should he made through the me- dium ot its county. State and national conventions. Such being the fact, we fail to see any good reason for departing from this time-honored cus- tom just now. On the contrary, it does seem to us that if ever strict party organization should be insisted upon and maintained, it is at the present juncture. Incidious enemies ot the Democratic party are seeking to divide and overthrow it, not by open attacks on its measures or men, but by decrying its established usages as detrimental, and by using their every effort to g...
