Century 21 A&E Associates II Moves to Country Brook Village Page 5 plate. Beall's Department Store in Rockwall presented Edie with a lace gown and bed jacket. Jeff Long, manager Century 21 A&E Associates II, Inc., which has been in the area nine years at Castle and Country Club, has moved into spacious new quarters next door to Skaggs Alpha Beta in the Country Brook Village on Hwy. 78 at Naaman School Road. Jeff Long, manager of the com- pany, said: "We moved here because we believe the main growth pattern in our area is along Highway 78 and in this new location, we can better serve our Garland and Sachse clients, and we will have more opportunity to generate new business with home buyers and sellers. "People are familiar with Cen- tury 21 as we have done a lot of business in Sachse in the past. I'd like to point out, too, that all of our real estate agents are highly trained and depend on real estate as a full-time source of income." Long, who has been in the real estate fi...

Page 10 Feature Section How to refinance for retirement income By Leonard J. Hansen Copley News Service Q: We have a limited income and need more cash in order to live. Our home is worth about $100,000 and we have already taken our $125,000 capital gains exclusion. How do we go about a sale/leaseback of our home or a reverse annuity mortgage? — W.M., Toms River, N.J. A: Your home can be a major source of retirement income and security through a program such as a reverse annuity mortgage or a sale/leaseback. Your savings and loan institu- tion might have a RAM program, where they will provide mortgage funds against the value of your home. You can take the payments monthly as a cash supplement to your other sources of income. Not all S&Ls have the program so you might have to shop around. For a sale/leaseback you seek out a real estate brokerage that does at least some work with investors or investor groups. In this concept the investors buy your home from you, providing some cash...

Sesquicentennial Flags, Signs to be Auctioned For historical collectors, last year's Texas Sesquicentennial will experience a final glimmer when surplus Sesquicentennial flags and signs go on the auction block in Austin. The State Highway Depart- ment is putting out the word — last chance to obtain 4x6 foot Sesquicentennial flags, or 3 x 3 Sesquicentennial signs (color- ful metal "posters" with the Ses- quicentennial story). Nearly 300 of the flags flew over highway department offices statewide, while more than 100 Ses- quicentennial "posters" ap- peared in highway rest areas throughout 1986. The auction, scheduled for June 13 at Austin's City Coli- seum, 1000 Barton Springs Road, will combine both in- person and mail-in bids. Deadline for receipt of mail bids is June 4. On auction day the surplus items, as long as inventories last, will be awarded to high-dollar bidders for individual flags or poster-signs. Successful mail bidders will be notified by telephone or mail. In addition ...

Page 10 Feature Section The best exercise for osteoporosis By Leonard J. Hansen Copley News Service Q: I have osteoporosis, very painful, and need exercises for my back. I am 82. Can you help or direct me? — L.H., Columbia, Pa. A: There is not a specific pro- gram of exercise for people with osteoporosis, according to the American Rheumatism Associa- tion. "As bone density has de- creased, a fall or too much strain during exercise could cause a se- rious bone break." There is still controversy within the medical profession on the best way to deal with osteoporosis. The best exercise and one with the least amount of hazard to it, is walking. A brisk walk around your neighborhood three to four times a week should benefit the long bone, which can actually increase bone density. The walk is beneficial, too, for your cardiovascular sys- tem. And, if you walk each time with a friend you'll have added a special time for visiting and shar- ing the experience. So for the best and safest resu...

* have it. A recent letter to you comment- ed on a so-called "negative" child who, according to the writer, is "good" for only a few hours every other month. I had a similar type of child, and decided early in her develop- ment not to try to mold her into my idea of what a child should be (seen and not heard!). Since both children, mine and that writer's, needed to be active to be happy, I encouraged a per- sonal involvement in decisions re- jgarding choice of clothing, plan- ning meals, and other activities in line with her capabilities. A strong effort to compliment the positive things a child does can make an enormous difference for the whole family. Avir' Children My daughter is now 24 and suc- cessful in her chosen field.
