THE KALGOORLIE MINER PUBLISHED DAILY. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1895. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 30 September 1895

- THE KALGOORLIE MINE! PUBLISHED DAILY. . MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1895. . Tub fate of the Coolgardie Hospital should be a warning to the Committee of our local institution. After, running it as a semi-private H jspital for, twelve months, and getting numerous heavy grants in aid the board has again, gone to the Government cap in. hand to. ask for further assistance.. In ad dition they now propose to -ask the Ministry to take over, the control of tiie Hospital, and to degrade tnein selves ' from *a board of management into, an advicatory committee. Why this absurd step is being, taken it is impossible to say. Surely with lawyers, doctors, and business men among them their combined intelligence is sufficient to enable them to know that the Hospital having } been gazetted a public Hospital within the- meaning ?? of the Act they are in a position, infinitely better than any action on the part of the Government can place them in. The Perth idea of running a bush insti tution for the sick i...

Opening of White Feather Reward Battery. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 1 October 1895

Opening of White Feather Reward Battery. The White Feather Reward mine was the first in the locality floated in London and is now a well developed property, and on Monday several hundred ladies and gentle men assembled to witness the opening of the battery. The property, includes the Reward Claim of the Feather, which was given to M'Auliffe and party for their pluck in penetrating to the then unknown district, and also the adjoining blocks originally known as the Golden Eagle leases, compris- ; ing in all 58 acres. It appropriately bears the prospector's name, but it must be re membered that this is not the prospector who turned back after reaching the promised land and thus- by showing the white feather gave the place its name. Since those days the field has attracted a great deal of at tention and the enormously rich cement de posits, as well as the splendid reefs, have caused its fame to be trumpeted far and wide. Recognising the importance of the place, early in the history of t...
