Closed Roads. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 11 March 1898

Closed XSoi&As. j (By A bUFFERKIt.) Owing to the want of sufficient mail accommodation for the presopt increasing settlement in New South Wales, tho above question should commend itself to every person having any iutercst in tho future welfare of the colony. Diseases in Cattle near Albury. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 11 March 1898

Biscascs, in C'nttle near Allmrj. ? * ? Somo oxcitemont was occasioned amongst Albury stock-owners this week by a reported severe outbreak at Bungowannah, near Albury. Taken in conjunction with the cases of disease reported from Corowa and Yarrawonga, it was at first feared that there was a serious extensip.il of tho dreaded malady. Inquiry, however, elicited that there wn3 no local outbreak, the animals coming from Rudd's Colombo Creek Station, between Narandera and Urana. It appears from particulars furnished by Mr. George E. Mackay, local inspector of stock, thnt on February 24 a mob of 29 head of. fine short I horn, cattle, prime-bred,, was , .brought to Bungowannah, where Mr. Rued leases a grass paddock. On the 21th oiiO waB found dead, -and between that date and 3tlrMarch !: twelve more'sucoumbed. As John Kennedy, i who has had charge of tho cattlo since they ?arrived in Albury, is a stock expert, he at r once recognised tho disease ns anthrax in a virulent form, and adopted p...
