Mount Hope. Social matters were lively last week as two weddings were performed by the Rev Mr Verso, of Hillston, who   was on one of his welcome periodical visits here. The first ceremony per- formed was that of Miss Anna Patterson, second daughter of Mr. Malcolm Patterson, of this town, to Mr Richard Spaul, of Victoria, while the second one was that Miss Annie   Tullia, eldest daughter of Mr J. Hillston Municipal Conooil. An ordinary meoting of tho Coanoil was held on Wednesday night. There were present, Aldermen Fallarton, Betts, Wilson, Eopko and O'Dunnell. Tho minutes oi the proviuns meeting were read and confirmed.
