THUBSDAY, Jpkb 16. They have started crushing Alabama stone. | At/ the Brilliant Block there is a reef vary ing from 1 to 4ft thick, and 293 tons of stone; were pulled for the fortnight. A crushing of 290 tons gave 241oz. At the QueenCross reef a foot of medium stone has been cat in the hanging-wall in No. 5 Jevel. During the fortnight 100 tons of stone were hauled, and 140 tons of stone are now in .the paddock. 'X'he crushings from the Brilliant and St. George and Brilliant Block reported yester day, are much more satisfactory than recent returns. Should the stone in these mines improve, a much-needed fillip would be given to the share market. During the fortnight 225 tons of stone were hauled at the Brilliant and St. George. Yesterday 399oz of gold were brought in, the product of 378 tons of stone. In some of the faces the s&ne varies from 1ft to 5ft thick, interspersed with blanks. 3?he share market is still inactive. Local Mining News. WEDNESDAY, JFSE 16. 1 The Brilliant. Extended Block is down 102 feet. The shaft at the Victoria and Caledonia Slock is down 696ft from the surface. The reef in the south level at the Stock jholm is looking well, and 20 tons were raised from that part of the mine during the fort night. The market remains dull. Brilliant and St. Georges have picked up a little. Bril liant Blocks were quoted on 'change last night for the first fame for anage; the best fniyer for contributing was 13s, and for paid mps 15s { sellers held oat for 20s and 24s respectively. The market is in such a state that unless there are actual sales, buyers' and Bellers' prices are not at all conclusive.
