THE DARLING DOWNS GAZETTE. DRAYTON, THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 1858. [Newspaper Article] — The Darling Downs Gazette and General Advertiser — 12 August 1858

THE   DARLING DOWNS GAZETTE. DRAYTON, THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 1858. The unexpected return of MR. GREGORY from the search for Leichhardt and his party is an event that is sure to call forth a large amount of comment, the more especially as the continued absence of the English and India mails leaves it the only inrporteat tepe open to duewnoe tad remark. Until a regular narrative of MR. GREGORY'S proceedings is published we cannot,   of course, fully appreciate the difficulties that beset him, although we may take it for granted that the more prominent and important points of his journey are alluded to in his letter published in one of the Sydney papers. We therefore con- sider ourselves fully justified, basing our remarks on the facts mentioned in that letter, in referring briefly to the conduct and results of MR. GRE- GORY'S expedition, reserving, in justice to him our final opinion until he shall have published a full narrative of this proceedings. We certain...
