HEALESVILLE v. YARRA JUNCTION. [Newspaper Article] — The Lilydale Express — 17 July 1914

HEALESVILLE v.. YARRA JUNCTION. These,-two teams met for the se cond time this season on the Cold. stream ground last Saturday. Both were poorly represented, only playing r6 men. a side. The day was not at all favorable for football,-a strong wind blowing from goal to goal. The game fo'r the first half was dis tinctly in. favor of Yarra Junction, who, as a combination, until the last quarter, were better than their oppo nents. Price, Green and Mason were a dashing trio for them, and time afier time were much in evidence. At the half. time interval the Junction were in great heart, havine a sub stantial lead .on the formidable Healesvilleites. After the interval the Maroons warmed to their wdork, and played with rare dash, and determination. One splendid piece of play along the wing,-in which Bretherton and WVan din were the sole participators, was a feature of the match,"and ended up with thei latter kicking a fine goal. The commencenrient of the final term saw Healesville-7points t...

MOTOR VICTIM. [Newspaper Article] — The Lilydale Express — 24 July 1914

MOTOR VICTIM. Jnder a spreading chestnut tree The village semthy stands; £ho smith a lonely man is he, With large but useless hands. His trade was good in former years At shoeing horses' heels; He has not learned, it now appears, 'To. mend the motor wheels. We know that happiness creates . a void into which tears will speedily be hurled. There is one thing that caq never turn into suffering, -and ihat is the good. we have done. Some folks they.keep huntin' for sor row, They sigh if they're right or they're wrong; . But this day's as good as to-morrow,, So I jest keep a-livin' along; I jest keep a-livin' along. I jest keep a-singin' a song; There's no use to sigh While the sun's in the sky; a, T inst keen a-livin' along.
