IHOME AND WUTH ] [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 12 January 1907

IHOME AND WUTH ] A BACK NUMBER . ( This is the story which won the first prize , $ 100 , in our recent contest ) B _ LOLA T . HA vs . MISSO . BI . CHAPTER VIII . A OLDE TO LARRY . The annua ] football game between the Tigers and the Bone Doctors was on , and Uncle Johnny , who was an enthusiast about the game on the gridiron , insisted upon making a gala day of the event . Accordingly he hitched Jack and Bill to the open surrey , and off they all went . Larry had disappeared before breakfast . Uncle Johnny was much disappointed . He wanted Larry to see the game . He had taken him to a street show a few weeks before , and enjoyed Larrys delight more than he did the show . The day was delightfully cool . The fields on either side were filled with the shocks of corn , their dry blades rustling crisply . The dry grass had brightened into greenness again beneath the beneficent autumn showers . The road was full of vehicles churning the road into dust . Uncle Johnny drove deftly around th...

MMLL ^^^ A Customer Asks a Question . A customer writes : You say Ivory Soap is 99 Xoo P er cent . pure . Wh y do you not make it ioo per cent , pure ? For the reason that it is not practicable to do so . There must be some substance in soap which is not soap , just as there -must be some alloy in gold . And for the selfsame reason — to hold it together . The ambition of a good soap maker is to produce a soap with a minimum of impurity . Ivory Soap fulfills this requirement . It contains less than one-fourteenth as much impurity as a gold coin does . n ^ Sl Ivory Soap _ e 2 p ^ 9945-i . o Per Cent . [ HOUSEHOLD j [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 12 January 1907

[ HOUSEHOLD j DUMB-WAITER . The four sides of the pulley - weight cases should reach from the top of the first story to the cellar hottom so that the weights will have no chance to catch . I have four pulleys on this waiter , such as are used for window sashes . I put one at each corner . This makes the waiter run evenly and easily . I would suggest as a convenient size for the waiter 2 by 2 by 5 feet . To make grooves by which to guide the waiter , on the middle of each side of the inside of the shaft nail two % strips a little over % inch apart , so that the % strip which you nail to the waiter will DUSIB-WAITEB . slide smoothly between them . I made the waiter weight about 10 lb . more than the combined weights of the pulley weights . At the top of the waiter , I put old-fashioned night locks to fasten it up . Make the door in the diningroom the same width as the waiter so as to be able to get at all the shelves easily . If you make a waiter on this plan , you will have no troubl...
