BREEDER MIT'ST ADVERTISE [Newspaper Article] — Farm Home — 1 December 1899

BREEDER MITST ADVERTISE Mr . George McKerrow writes : If the breeder dont let any one know he has fine stock he cannot sell it ; he must advertise what he has for sale ; he must divide some of his profits with the papers or he will not get there . He must have judgment to sell his own stock and price it according to its real , merits . There are not many tops raised ; they should bring good prices . The price should drop rapidly from the top ; It the best animal sells for $ 100 , probably the next grades of quality should sell for $ 75 and $ 40 , and those animals below a certain breeding mark should not be sold at any price to any man for breeding purposes , but should go to the block . This should be done for the honor of the breed , the breeder and the buyer . It is a mistake to sell- inferior animals for breeding purposes just because you can get $ 10 , $ 20 or $ 30 for them . The breeders should take this matter in hand and cut off inferior stock .
