As might be expected, bitter feuds hivo existed be tween the prominent actors of this po litical organisation, which have caused strifes as acrid for place as if it were a contention for sapremacy between two distinct and in no wise similar political parties. As tho convention has bocn the arbiter to whose will aspirants for office have almost universally submitted, it is there that struggles havo been as ani mated, ifnot more animated, than is an election campaign in Connecticut or New Hampshire.
