Case Discharged by Grant of Writ of Habeas Corpus. CASE OF MEDICAL SOCIETY It Was Alleged That La chance Practiced Medicine Without a License. St. Paul Dispatch (6): Joseph La cliauce, the divine healer so-called, has not, in the opinion of Judge Lewis, of the district court, been practising medicine without a license, and the writ of habeas corpus, issued on his petition, is granted and Mr. Lachance is discharged from custody. The evidence in the police court, where the healer was first examined upon his arrest, was before the. district court judge. Lachance's method of curing or healiug is the acme of simplicity. He re quires the patient to sit quietly and "think of or fix his mind upon the peti tioner." who, during the time of the treatment, sits near with face or head covered by his hands. In this treatment there is no rubbing, kneading or laying on of hands and no drug or medicine fs used or prescribed. The only question is, does this treat ment come under the statute prohib...

...r^ ft COST OMAHA, iioom and Board for Exposition Vis itors at Moderate Prices. Perhaps tlio first consideration with those ccntemplating a visit to the Trans-MissiKsiippi Exposition th puui- irmr is that of cost. To the few, "money is no object to" the many, it may be «aid that th? coat of a visit to the Ex position at Omaha is moderate and rea sonable. In the first place, the railroad* have granted exceedingly low rate*.especially to the territory near Lv. Rooms canbe obtained at moderate cost in any part of the city, in some cases including 'board, and those to whom time is money should remember that the compactness of the Exposition buildings and the ac cessibility from the center of the city intikes it possible to "see the sights" in much less time tiiau was required at the Columbian exposition at Chicago. One day spent in each of the main build ings, with two or three days for ttie state buildings and other attractions, will occupy about two weeks, apd a good geiieral i...
