CAlIDEN"-POINT FEMALE Cakdew Point, Female Academy is situa ted in Platte County, Mo., seven miles from Platte City; ten from, Weston and fourteen from Fort Leavenworth, K. T., in' the midst of one of the most beautiful healthy and fertile sec tions of the Piatte Country, ' surrounded by beautiful and well improved farms, presenting as fine. a landscape as can be found in thz Mis sissippi Valley. -Its location is peculiarly fortunate and favor able for the establishment of a permanent and dihtinguished retreat of 'learning, sufficiently near the river and other thoroughfares to be easy of access and equal!' remote to shield it from the effects of contagion and epidemics. The Academy building is large and elegant, and well adapted to the necessities of a first class Boarding School. Congressional domination. The Pro-Slavery Territorial Convention, which assembled at Shawnee Mis?ion, on "Wednesday last, declared Gen. J. W. Whitfield the Pro-Slavery candidate for Delegate to Congress by acclamation Col. A. J. Isacks, the opposing candidate, hav ing withdratvn his name as the only way of securing harmony - and good feeling in the convention. Col. Isacks had great strength, and many jvarm and uncompro mising supporters in the convention, but was too noble to sacrifice the interests of his parly for his own personal aggrandize ment.
