A ^egi0inarcWbii Bismarck, D. Tv Oct. 5,1877. Gen. McClellan's Level Head. The New York Sun requests Gen. McClellan to shut up if he wants to be the Demccratic Governor of New Jersey. The Sun refers to a recent interview •with the New York World wherein the General restated his Harper's Monthly argument in favor of an increase of the army. The General will probably keep on talking when requested, and will un doubtedly hold fast to his sound position upon the army question. He will edu cate the party up to something better if it holds the views of the Sun that the army is a fraud. He will be Governor of New Jersey all the same, hewever, and his published advice will have its effect upon Congress. Gen. McClellan argues not only against the proposed reduction of the army, but in favor of its increase. He holds the idea that there is danger from a standing army to be entirely fal lacious, and cites the willingness of our veteran volunteers and army recruits in all our -wars to return...

Atten tion is invited to what is said of this con nection bv the St. Paul and Minneapolis papers on which Mr. Rea has held edi torial positions for some years. An air line railroad between Minne a polls and St. Paul is the latest dual city sensation. The enterprise is a fixed fact and goes ahead at once upon a bonns of $15,000. A Mr. Hewitt, Jof New York City builds it This scheme will help on the larger scheme of locating the state capital half way between the two towns. Capitalists and politicians in either city liave invested around the half-way sec tion and made up their minds that the new Capitol will be built in that neigh borhood. Bismarck, D. T., Oct 12, 1877. Ohio Democratic. We are sorrjr jOhio went democratic, because it will be accepted as an anti Hayes victory, and will give encourage ment to the wing of the republican party that doubt the wisdom of the president's southern and reform policies. It also de feats one of the ablest men in the Union, Judge West, If this repulse could be in terpreted as some of our local democratic Hayee-men understand it, we would be satisfied. They say it is an endorsement of Hayes by the democratic party. In the language of Jim Blaine, "I guess not-'' The republican platform was Hayes, and the state ticket was headed by one of his: warmest personal friends. Besides, Stan-, ley Matthews was credited with the for mation of both. It was a distinctively Haygs entry. It is therefore a Hayes de (jsai And yet there is really, no occasion. Tor surprise. Bismarck, D. T., Oct-y15, l877r In commenting upon the Dakota wheat harvest of -this year, the lit# Paul Dis patch says-: "With such enormous yields -to repay the husbandman, it i» not sur prising fcat there is now a most unexam pled rush far the land of the N. P. R. R. Company, both in this State and Dakota, the sales of the last sixty days aggregat ing over $750,000. An especially grati fying fact connected with this large sale is that the"great majority c£ sales are in small tracts to persons who propose to become actual settlers, and to immedi ately commence improvement »f their purchases. Of these sales about an equal proportion is in Minnesota and Dakota, the purchase in Dakota extending all along the line from Fargo to Jamestown. Along this stretch many new farms are now being broken, and next season many thousands of acres will be put under plow ready for seeding the following spring" The Chicago Tribune correspondent' at Washington is positive that Jno.
