§m The Story Of A Brave Glri "Some years hence when, per- haps, I shall be able to tell, from experience, how a woman can pay her expenses during her whole university course, my story may be more helpful. No I am content if it can encourage some one who wants to enter the University of Texas, but must Wait. At sixteen I passed the exami- nation for tcacher's certificate, and could then have been admit- ted to the University if I had had means to pay mv expenses. Lacking means, I began to teach at a salary of thirty dollars. My feet were frozen in the dilapidat- ed schoolhouse. Only a few weeks be- fore that the leading laymen of the Baptist denomination met in Dallas and issued an appeal that the pastors over the state make heavy draughts on the time and servicss of the laymen, calling them out to speak. A group of business men of Wichita Kansas fiaye organized themselves into teligjous teams and are going out into the towns and villages, into shoos and factories, proclaiming the doctrines oí Christ.
