Berlin Barmaids. [Newspaper Article] — The Port Macquarie News and Hastings River Advocate — 10 October 1891

Btrlis Baraaiif. Tux barmaids of Berlin have started a jour nal of their own. They have been compelled to take this step in consequence of the ill treatment of employment liureaus, and the rudeness of men who apparently frequent restaurants for tlm purpose of intuiting them. It it announced that the names and addresses of offender* of the latter class will lie published in the paper, and that, if the offender be. a student of the University, the copy containing an account of his misconduct will bn forwarded to the scholastic authori ties. The. barmaid* of England (observes tlm London Figaro) might do worse than take a leaf out of the liook of thtiir Berlin sisters. If they have not much substantial grievances they have, frequently cause for complaint against the impertinent, addle-headed pup pies who poster them with unwelcome atten tions, and use language for which they deserve to be. kicked. An adult laboring luan wastes five ounces of muscle in th« course of his daily labor.
