WRECK ON THE TASMANIAN COAST. Our Circular Head correspondent writes   —The four-and aft schooner Victoria, 49 tons, Capt, Collins, and three men, which left Stanley about noon to-day (Sunday) loaded with blackwood logs and palings, consigned by Mr George Tatlow, for Adelaide, has been stranded on the North Point reef about 1p.m. today. It is sup- posed she will become a total wreck. The vessel was high and dry at low water. She was uninsured and the cargo partly so. A preliminary inquiry will be held to-morrow. We were unable to obtain further par- ticulars by wire yesterday (Monday) owing to the telegraph line being interrupted

CIRCULAR HEAD PRODUCE MARKET, Our correspondent writes:— There is no   change in the market since last report, prices keeping up to previous quotations. The butter supply is steadily falling off; prime   potted butter will bring good prices next winter and fresh will be at a premium; any   one having winter cows must do well this season. The following were the shipments of produce for the week— Eliza Davis for Adelaide-, 23 blackwood logs, 400 staves, 4,000 palings. ss Glaucus, for Sydney, \624 sacks potatoes, 62 sacks peas, 2 sacks hides, 1 bundle sheepskins. The Victoria for Adelaldo sailed on Sunday.

Tho following curious article Is taken from an English newspaper of the year 1773, and is» there called the "Perpetual Almanac" or the   Soldier's Prayer Book,' by Richard Lane, a private soldier belonging to the third regiment, who was taken before the Mayor of   Glasgow for playing cards during divlne service :— The sergeant commanded the Soldier to church, and when tho parson read his prayers and took his text, those who had a Bible   took It out; but the soldier had neither a   Bible or a Common Prayer Book, but, pulling out a pack of cards, he spread them out   before him. He first looked at one card and then at another. The sergeant of the company saw him, and said:   ' Richard, put up the cards this is no place for them'. 'Never mind that said Richard'.
