Yester Jay the case of United States vs. Hill, ttie boy alluded to yesterday, was tried, and resulted in the conviction of the youth nnd his sentence to the penitentiary (or six months. He was con victed clearly of breaking open the mail bags, though nothing of value was found therein, if Wft may except a lottery ticket, which wassaid to have drawn a prize. Whether a lottery ticket is a thing of value was a grave point in the case, and one which it was not necessary for the court to decide.
