i /f AGiticur/ruitAi,. A Relish koii Farm Stock.—The iniporU.net) of an oooasion&l relish of salt and wood ashen for all kinds of slock can not be too highly appreciated. The most convenient form in which these materials are offered, aeoording to feeders of wide experience, is in a solid mass, which admits of diligent licking on the part of the animal without gain- ing more of the mixture than is desi- rable. In order to mix these ingredi- ents so that a solid mass may be formed, take salt and pure wood ashes in the proportion of pound for pound, with water sufficient to hold the mixture to- gether. To preserve the mixture in a solid state place it in troughs or boxes sheltered sufficiently to keep rain and snow from reaching it and converting it into an alkaline pickle. These troughs with their tempting contents prove effi- cient as baits for alluring animals, turn- ed out on long runs during the day, home at night. When cattle chew leather, wood and old bones, remember that it...

The two leaclii)^ parties occvi{% toward each other to-day a position which is without parallel* its most important bearing considered in the history of our country. For the first time, both houses of congress are brought face to face, with the execu- tive in controversy upon a most im- portant question affecting the inter- ests ot the entire country, now and hereafter. The president interposes his veto to a law of congress, which, lacking the two-thirds majority, the latter must prevail. No law can be passed by congress under the consti- tution against the president's veto, but by a two-thirds vote. This the democrats cannot command against the republican members in Congress acting as a unit; but one power the house of representatives has express- ly and conclusively given it by the constitution—that of originating all bills of revenue for the support of the various departments of the...
