An announcement that the .Brit ish- Government had decided to. make a substantial allowance for the loss of Australian wheat which resulted from tile ravages of wee vils was made on Saturday by the actiug chairman ol the Australian Wheat Board ^Senator Russell). At the end of 19lf> the world's record wheat contiact was made with the Imperial authorities, namely, that for the supply of 3,000,000 tons at 4/f a bushel.
