AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF AMERICA THE PASSING-YEAR GATHERING. "I WANT TO BE." SYDNEY, Thursday. On a journey through America, on the way to London three or four years ago, Mr. Percy Hunter, Director of the New South Wales Immigration and Tourist Bureau, was instrumental in interesting a number of Australian residents in Chi- cago in the work of bringing their coun- try favorably to the notice of the Ame- ricans. The result was the formation of the Australasian Society of America. This society, composed chiefly of Australians and New Zealanders, has as its chief exe- cutive officer Mr George Girling, an Ame- rican newspaper man, and a personal friend of Mr Hunter. Mr Girling has in the time which has elapsed since done a wonderful amount of work gratuitously in securing publicity for Australia. He   has written articles and paragraphs for the newspaper press, edited a small week-   ly paper devoted chiefly to matters Brit- ish, delivered lectures on Australasia ...

OBITUARY One Beaufort correspondent writes: - A colonist of 70 years' standing, in the per son of Mrs Ann Summers, passed away at Beaufort yesterday morning at the ripe   age of 86 years. The cause of death was senility. Deceased who was twice mar   ried, was born in London, and made her first matramonial venture at the early age of 16 years. When 21 years of age she   married the late Mr Jas. Summers in Mel bourne. She leaves one daughter by the first marriage, and two sons and three daughters by the second. Deceased had   resided in Victoria for 68 years and for     two years in New South Wales. She lived in the Beaufort district for a great many years. The remains are to be in terred on Saturdday. THE SURF-BATHING TRAGEDY BODY ON THE BEACII. BELIEVED TO BE WILLIAM SEA- BROOK'S FEATURES UNRECOGNISABLE.       QUEENSCLIFF, Thursday..     Interest in the pathetic double drown- ing tragedy which occurred at Point   Lonsdale last Saturday week was revived   to-day by the discovery of a body, believ-   ed to be that of William Seabrook, who perished while making a gallant effort to rescue Miss Muriel Hunter, the other victim of the tragedy. The body was found on the beach at Point Lonsdale, about 200 yards from the scene of the fatality.
