APRICOTS AND PEACHES. [Newspaper Article] — Renmark Pioneer — 26 February 1897

; • apricots and Reaches.. :o: , ..Selection _ of ' E«uit.—In buying Japricots I have found a gre^t difference via - the' - various kinds—and where obtainable the English Moorp'ark is a long way the best. It is not very large.routid, and before steering might not please the''uninitiated- as well as the larger. In choosing your apricot take it between your finger and thumb and choose those apricots you find ihirkrst through ; tfioy will be plump and full when cooked. The large thin ones break. In choosing peaches thr're is no question as to the best, viz.:—the full flavored yellow peaches. The peeled are superior to -the -,un peeled. I would advise all purchasers of Miltlura and tlenmart fruits to ask for original packages. Many growers now pack their fruit in 510..boxes. In all: the fo'lowing receipts I shall use apricots and peaches prepared in two different ways us a foundation, and shall refer ioibem as apricot 'puree ■in.l.apricot stewed. In usiti" Jdried fruit of whatever kind,...

The Pioneer. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 1897. BOLL UP TO THE POLL. [Newspaper Article] — Renmark Pioneer — 26 February 1897

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 1897. BOLL UP TO THE POLL. TIow is it that Renm&rk; has not been considered important enough (or any of th« candidates for elec tion to the Federal Coa vention to visit the settlement and give fchfir views to the voters ? It is very probable that the reason is to be found by referring back to the time of the last General Election, which were held last April. The candidates no doubt studied the returns published after that eveut, and, having noticed that out oE 480 voters, then on tbe list, only 197 Went to the poll at Ren inark, they might very well argue that the people of this settlement, though nearly all living within four miles of the polling place, take so little interest in political matters that their suffrages are hardly worth asking for. Had anything like a good majority of those on the roll recorded their votes in April last, beveral at least of the pre sent candidates might have considered Renmark worth an electioneering visit. As we pointed ...
