Uy "Magneto Sparks." Some years ago the proprietor of the Red Cross Motor Tyre Hospital espied an opening for a tyre repair works in this city, where owners of ears could depend upon the work done. A start was made, machinery fitted, and. very quickly after .the announcement was made the business came . along. Owners found that they could get tlieir work finished with expedition, and could rely upon it, so liiey influenced their friends to come -along, with the result that the first experiment soon became too small to accommodate the growing business. A move into very large premises soon became necessary, and when the move was made the com pany found the business doubled again. More space, more up-to-date machinery, and the work progressed witn continued satisfaction. The Red Cross now claims to have the largest and ?nost up ;o-date premises for their particular trade in Aus tralia. Woman's Greatest Misfortune. rPHE old saying that " Distance lends enchantment " was never more aptly to J- the point than when applied to those people whose breath is laden with evil-smelling and offensive odours. Many persons appear most attractive at a distance, but produce a feeling of pity and disgust when close to, because of the condition of their breath. For instance, it makes little difference how beautiful a woman may be or how charming her manner, if her breath is foul; her charm is gone, and she is at a disadvantage whenever she comes in contact with other people. Foul breath in woman arouses in man a feeling of repug nance and a desire to get out of the company of. such a woman as quickly as possible'; and even women will avoid her. It is, therefore, important for every woman who values her personal attraction to take such care of herself that this unpleasant and unnecessary complaint is avoided or corrected. Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills will be found a searching and '...

Mining. ARARAT— [Newspaper Article] — Punch — 2 April 1914

By " L s. d:" ARARAT— As an authority on Ararat mines, the views of Mr. J. M'Crory are always worth hearing. Shareholders in Langi Logan South will there fore be interested in a letter which he has sent • H TI~ "Khft-fc out concerning the mine. I-Ie points out that the company have a good plant, and estimates that when the drives are advanced properly there should be fully 1200ft. between the points where the company intersect the wash. 3VIr. The company are making good progress with the ex tension of this drive, which is in a total dis tance of 790ft., and they should shortly be in a favourable position to put up workings into the gold-bearing wash. "Investor" (F/lsternwick).—1. Try paying a few calls, and if by that timo you cannot get your money, back, let them go. There is just a chance of being able to even up. 2. There ha3 been a lot of puffing about these shares, but we do not like the district. 3. We cannot see any reserve fund in their balance-sheet. Everything depends upon the price of tin, but it is only fair to point out that the main lead in the_Bourke's Hill portion is available for work after the present area has been dealt with. The only doubt about the whole thing is the probablo courne of the market in tin. "Tambo" (Brunswick).—We also hear very good accounts about Lode Hills, and would rather hold - tho shares. 0! course, you now are in a posi tion to "stand on velvet."
