POWER OF RECOVERY. [Newspaper Article] — Glengarry, Toongabbie and Cowwarr Journal and Central Gippsland Reporter — 25 August 1914

POWER OF RECOVERY. Many young people may be dis appointed that we are not in the centre of the fight. They would likfc to be striking in this supreme crisis for right and liberty. But wa? is no picnic, not even for an idyllic death. It is ugly vicious ness, spreading ruin and degra dation, and its. company, is dirt, disease and lust. Our share in the world's horrors -may be drab' and dull, but it is far more toler able than the desolation of homes, and the ghastly torture of beautiful young life. And our power of re cuperation makes us specially well circumstanced. We will recover quickly, for our tra8e is in- pri mary produce, for which the de matfd^.is 'unlimited. We will even profit greatly, for exhausted Euro pean countries will not bid ia the market against us, and there will be rich 'harvests in good price6 for wool, grain, dairy produce, miner als "and meat.
