A sad actoident occurred on the 9th instantat the Philadelphia Mills, abtwt two miles north of Logansville, in this county, resulting iu the death of Jas. B. Rockey. a lad of fifteen summem. From what we learn, it appears that he with an elder brother were ' approaching a tree that was being cut down; and seeingit quivering arid bending preparatory to falling, stepped aside to an apparently secure place. The tree in its fall brought with it a large limb from an adjoining tree, which descended in the sipot where the Iad« was, striking him on the head, causing instant death. The painful tidings wob immediately conveyed to his mother—a heavy strokefrom which it was feared she would not recover. His remains were followed to their resting-place on tho day after the occurrence, by a large number of friends and aquaintatices, who mourn his untimely and premature death.—Clinton Republican.
