The Baccalaureate Sermon . On Sunday morning last , before a very large and appreciative audience , Dr McKnight preached the baccalaureate sermon to the graduating class . The presence of a large number of alumni and friends ol the College from near and far , and exceptionally good music combined to make the occasion one of great interest and pleasure . Dr . McKnight took as his text , Matt . 4 : 9 . All these things will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me . This , he said , is really recognized as the third and final temptatation in the _wilderness . On account of the time alien the seductive offer was made , as well on account ol the nature of the temptation it embodied , it may be appropriately studied on this occasion Jesus had just finished the year of his training and preparation , and ha \ ing by his baptism at the Jordan been publicly inducted into his priestly office , was noiv facing toward the gracious and aggressive ministry he came to fulfil On the thresh...

WHAT contributed very largely to the pleasure and success ol the Commencement through winch we have just passed was the presence of an exceptionally large number of alumni . Not only were the class reunions of 74 and 94 remarkably well attended , but the alumni generally , from far and near , came back to the old College during the past week in surprisingly large numbers , » nd made this year s Commencement one not soon to be forgotten . Everywhere , on the campus , in the college buildings and on the streets of the town could be » een groups of former students indulging in happy reminiscences of days gone by , renewing old associations and strengthening the ties ol loyalty which bind them to Alma Ma / a : This splendid alumni representation was especially gratifying ina » - much as it indicated in a very unmistakable way the renewed interest which the sons of old Gettysburg are coming to take in the College . We hope and believe that this is but an earnest of what we are to have he...

74 Reunion . One of the most interesting and successful events of the week was the reunion of the Class of 74 . which was held at the Eagle Hotel on Tuesday night . Several months before , the enthusiastic and faithful class secretary had addressed to all his old classmates a circular letter calling them back to the pleasant scenes of former college days , and the response which this letter evoked was most hearty and general . To behold the care free and happy crowd that assembled about the festive board in the Eagles dining parlors the other evening , one would hardly have expected to find in it the stern and dignified judges , grave preachcis , shrewd lawyers , staid professors , physicians and men of business for which it is so well noted . Nevertheless they were all there , never in their palmy college days having been more in evidence than , upon this delightful occasion . For several hours there was an unimpeded flow of social intercourse ; reminiscences of college days were e...
