REVENUE LAW OF ILLINOIS . AN ACT authorizing die Commnsinners of the riihool and Seminary Fund to loan the same to SEC . 1 . Be it enacted , Src , That the goveri-jr is hereby authorized to borrow on account of the State , of the school fund , all the specie they now , or hereafter may have , and of the com missioncrs of the seminary fund , the amount that may be received from the sales of seminary lands , at the rate of six per cent , interest , per annum ; said interest shall be added to the principal at the end of each and every year , until the money , borrowed as aforesaid , shall be refunded ; and said commis sioners are hereby authorized and required to loan the same , for the use of the State . SEC . 2 . The money thus borrowed , shall be deposited in the Treasury , to meet the current expenses of the government , for the tliree last quarters of the year 1829 , and the year 1830 . Instance of courage in two Boys . —About the middle of October , 1789 , two brothers by the name of Johnson , one twelve and the other nine years old , were playing on the western bank of Short Creek , about twelve miles from Wheeling , skipping stones in the water . At a distance they discovered two-men , who appeared to be settlers , being dressed with coats and hats . — These men , to amuse and deceive the children , ( as the event showed ) engaged in the same sport , advancing toward the children , till by degrees they got so near , that the children discovered them to be Indians ; it was then too late to make their escape ; the Indians seized , and carried them six miles into the woods , where they made a fire and took up their lodgings for the night ; their rifles and tomahawks rested against a tree , and then laid down , each Indian with a boy on his arm .
