THERE are a few interesting historical facts which were overlooked during the recent jubilee We have a good deal of progress to our credit for the last 60 years, but our local historians had neither time   nor space to tell us everything that hap- pened since the coronation of Queen Victoria. For instance, they never men- tioned the betting prosecutions which have been going on for some time, and the out- come of whioh is likely to be peculiar, in view of the recent decision of the English Court of Appeal. They said nothing about the way the Labor Party lost its backbone and climbed down. Thoy didn't mention that Miss Shaw was a cousin to the Leader of the Opposition. They forgot to remark that the O'Sullivan was a historian who had written a book, or that Banjo Neild had added something to tho labors of Byron and Shelley; and yet these thin...
