GALLEY SWAMP April 19. THE SPORTS. [Newspaper Article] — The Carcoar Chronicle — 22 April 1898

GALLEY SWAMP ? FKOM OUK CORKESPONDKNT. April 19. THE SPORTS. The Galley Swamp Annual Athletic Sports took place on Easter- Monday, in a paddock kindly lent by Mi1 H. Molloy. Taken from a general stand point, the sports and gathering were a decided success, and ieSect great credit npon the Committee, who worked so energetically. An unfor tunate circumstance, which is to be much regretted, took place in the start for the final of the Sheffield Handicap, which annulled the starts of the front men and allowed the back man to start on almost even terms. The gathering was graced with the presence of Messrs Waddell, M.L.A., Hocking, Owens, Rowlands, Small and several other leading lights of the district. At the luncheon (provided in Host Digby's usual first-class manner) about 30 gentlemen sat down, and were presided ...
