THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY. (From the Herald and Empire.) ] Tuesday. Tlie Speaker reported ail answer from the Governor General to the address of tho Assembly, stating that steps will be taken without delay for carrying, out the 'recommendations in favor, of establishing the electric telegraph between Sydney and Melbourne. Returns relative to the ureaent state of the Customs1 department were laid upon the table by Mr. Donaldson. Tho report of the Gold Fields Management Bill was adopted. A message from tho Governor-General was received, informing the House that his Excellency has caused tlio amount received as rent for tho Domain at Purramatta to be paid into the Colonial Treasury, and that he will resume the -occupation of tho Domain in March next. Mr. Cowper moved a series of resolutions to the effect that notice bo given to the Home Government to with draw, after the present voar, the two companies nf mili tary stationed hero in consemience of the cold dis coveries. O11 Saturday we wore visited by a short galo of wind from tho S. W., accompanied by a heavy shower of rain, levelling many trees with the earth, and to some extent injuring tho standing wheat. There is one amongst otl c.- good fi attires in tho character of the settlers hereabouts, that they evinco ft praisworthv desire to help one another in time of harvest, and in nil cases of emergency, otherwise ; from lack of reapers, much wheat would havo been lost by shedding. Rain again fell last night, and this day lias been gloomy and threatening throughout.

KIAMA. [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waoes — Yesterday, William Miller came beforo the Bench, Mosrs. Pcrrott and Ewer, at tho instance of Saniuol Green, who produced an agreement wherein it was agreed that he, Green, should split and put up ninety-six rods of a fence at 4s fid a rod. He said all the stuff was snlit and drawn to tlm linn, and that, tinrf. nf the fniine was put up, when Miller staved the progress of the work. Ho thought defendant owed him £21 12s., if the whole of the fence was jmt up. Miller consented to a verdict for £14 17s., which was then granted. Drunkenness. — John Conk and William Terrv, both appeared, yesterday, before the Bench, charged with being drunk and disorderly. Tho charge was proved against Perry by Constable Goddard.
