Sir, — I have the honour to acknowledge the re ceipt of your despatch, No. 90, dated the 21st July, 1856, in which, after stating that her Majesty's Government had determined to erect tbo Northern Districts of Now South Wales into a distinct colony, you observe that the most important questions which remain to bo decided arc — 1st. — The boundary between the two future pro-*' vinces. 2nd. — The future Government of the separated portion. _ . 3rd. — The division of the existing debt of the pro vince ; and you say that on this latter subject you are anxious to receive, as soon as practicable, a report from me,' with the advice of my Executive Council. 2. Sir, — I htivc the honour to forward to you, in aecurtlaiicu with the wish of the Legislative Assem bly of this colony, as communicated to me in an address (a cony of which I enclose), certain resolu iions with reference to the boundary line between New South Wales and the proposed new colony of Moreton Bay, as sketched out in your despatch, No. 90. dated 21st July, 185G. 2. These resolutions appear to me to embody impo sitions of a simple and rational character.
