LEOTURE ON THE BIBLE. ITS CELOCATEIIISTICS AMD F.FECTS. The lecture which was given on Wednesdry evening by his Lordship Dr. Perry, Bishop of Melbourne, at the lechabite IIall' on thie Bible, its characteristics and effects, was not attended by a very large audience, but there is no doubt that the coldness of the weather pre vented many persons from coming to hear tle lecture, who would otherwise have been glad to do so. The lecture which Dr. Perry delivered on Wednesday is the principal portion of one which he. delivered last year in FIelboeure, and it yas thenso much appreciated that it was printcd and sold in thL form of an pampldft. Mr. Boger occupied the chair, and briefy introduced Dr. Perry to the meeting. Passing over the many proofs which exist of the authenticity and genuineness of the writings of the Iliblo his Lordship proceeded at once to point out its differeiet characteristics, and to show his impartiality in dealing with his subject refrained from assuming its divine...
