The Delusions of Drink The , most prevalent of all delusions ia fjelf-djalusion.' No one humbugs us so thoroughly as we humbug ourselves. And in no particular ar»we more self- " deceptive than in the habits that are born of our appetites. Wearecontinually making excuses for them, instead of openly avowing and justifying our inclinations. Thus they become i forbidden fruit, and thus the.danger of illicit indulgence is heightened. So much of artificial stimulus enters into our lives, moral, mental and physical, that periods of reaction and 'depression aro inevitable, practically unavoidable. Therefore recourse is had to the inspiring devices alluded .to irk thet ^following from the London Lancet: The growing tendency of those whoso lives are gentle, and whose minds are educated, to" indulge iii aleholic stimulation, is, a- fact which the ' profession, would do well to recognize and to protest against. In Favor of Impeachment.—Tbje New York JEvening Post , always conservative and cautiousand once famous as tjie friend of Andrew Jbhrison , is now in favor of impeaching him. I says: "He keeps the country in a turmoil; he discourages and disheartens the honest and patriotic men in the Southern States who seek to lead^publie opinion aright. He purposely and with obstinacy stands - betw . een the country and peace: and if he persists in bis efforts to defeat the lawsCongress, as Soon as it meets, will have to impeach and remove him. By his ow .u fault, that will be the only remedy. " \ Tlje editor of the Charleston i(S. C.) Christian Advoobie says : " We acknowledge our indebtedness (to the Messrs.
