; <( Th^sb Ncmbkrh."—Tho two policemon stationed at Lauor's Park, in Notth Third street', on Saturday, to keep order and arrest any persons who might create a disturbanco at the Mechanic^' pio-nic, had each a number on his cap—one,the figure "8," the other tbo figure "7." Those* who noticed the addition thought it a . capital arrangemont. If any offioer, whose name might not be known, should bo guilty of any misdemeanor while on duty, no could bo reported bv his number, at once, and identified with¬ out any difficulty by (the Mayor or Chief of Police. . Arbbsted for Laroeny.—John Blumm is a "trampor." Ho tramps through city and country begging. He called at the house of Win. H. Spatz. in this city, on several occasions. Mrs. Spatz gave him aims twice; The third visit he made she had nothing to ' give him, thinking he came too often. He used threatening language and left. He vis- 1 ited the house atourthtime, September 10th, and demanded alms, which being refusodj he stolo ft coat and shirt and mado tracks.; Mr. Spatz mado information before Alder* man Schooner, who issued& warrant , which wob placed in the hands of' Constable Schwartz, who arrested Blumm, and in de l fault of $200 bail conveyed him to prison for trial at November term of Court. .
