We feel a conscious pride in referring our readers to the discussion upon Mr . Adams motion in the House of Representatives , for leave to resign his appointment as Chairman of the Committee on Manufactures . Our readers will see in that discussion the homage paid to his talents , patriotim . and moral purity , by his most unshrinking opponents—by some of the very men who charged him with having bought the office of President from Henry Clay ! they will see in that discussion substantial evidence of the fitness and qualifications of John Quincy Adams to preside over the nation . General Jackson once suid—Truth is mighty , and will prevail . It has prevailed ; and we hope hereafter that the followers of Martin Van Bnren will accord to Mr . Adams friends some honesty of priniple , after the humiliating confessions of their friends in Congress , that he , even now , possesses a greater moral power than any otlier man in the nation .

But upon a good soil , with an annual sprinkling of manure , at the rate of eight or ten loads to the acre , it may be continued for a succession of years without any material diminution in tbe value of tbe crop . The ground must be prepared for tbe seed , much in the same manner as for flax . It must be ploughed and harrowed sufficiently to break the clods , and to render the soil line and mellow . As different soils require dinerent degrees of labor to produce this effect , it must be left to the judgement of the cultivator to determine when his ground is in a proper s...
