There are a number of gentlemen of several Kansas and -western Missouri towns who, if they are quoted correctly, feel more badly than "we can over the situation here at Wichita. One Dr. Neeley, who claims to be mayor of Leavenworth, seems, through an interview appearing in a St. Louis paper, to be taking on in a sad way over Wichita's pending collapse. So, also, a banker at Springfield, Missouri, and a business man at St. Joe, not to mention the editors of some dozens of sheets in this state. They all declare that the bubblers bursting, that the tbin shell which inerusts Wichita's prosperity is about to collapse, etc., etc. Probably the saddest thought of all this is the utter indifference of the peo ple most nearly concerned in all this...

A special from Louisville, Kcntuckj', sns: News has been received from a lonely fanninsr community on Catsfork, in Liwrcnce county, of a ter rible tragedy. SamiM'l Smith, " aged 1G, who had had some dilliculty with a neigh bor, Stephen Hammond, yesterday armed himself with a revolver and went over to Hammond's, following him into the house. Hammond then readied for his rifle but Smith fired and killed him. Hammond's wife and children, a boy and a girl, at tacked the murderer, but he soonfatally wounded Mrs. Hammond, and as the children attempted to escape he felled them both with balls.
