The AYoodlawn Farmers' Club, including many of the most prominent and successful farmers of Fairfax county, have a way of uniting business with pleasure that is worthy of general imitation. Once a month they assemble at the house of sonle member of the club, discuss the most interesting iiuestions in agriculture, and compare notes in their practical experience. Combined with this meeting is asocial feature. The fanners bring then wives and young people, and when the business is done, a good supper awaits—no less relished by the fact that the hardy sons of toil are waited upon by a dozen or two bright-eyed and intelligent maidens. ...

Til the Editor if the State Journal l Having been circulating through the eastern portion of North Carolina tho past week, nnd mingling much with the people, 1 had a good opportunity of judging for myself ol the political condition of things, ami must say Tarn happily disappointed. 1 find the Republicans working with a will, and very jubilant antl hopeful of carrying the State election in August, and 1 think they will, by a clo.se vote ; but in November you can rely upon tho old North State rolling tip a heavy majority for Giant. I have not been able to find a single Republican that will vote for (Ireeley, and lind a great many Democrats that will not vote for him.
