[forth* Daily Appeal.] MAKTBTILLC, March 22, 1860. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 24 March 1860

[forth* Daily Appeal.] MAKTBTILLC, March 22, 1860. EDITOR APPEAL Within the memory of the oldest inhabitant, perhaps, there has not been a breath of slander blown about the streets of our most immnculate town I If ever there was a city where people staid at home and looked after their own morals, instead of their neighbors', (especially the ladies, God bless them !) that proud place is Marysville. If our blessed Redeemer had made his advent in this most scrupulously truth-lov-ing locality, and should the poor erring one have been accused to Him, if He had injudiciously have said, "Let him (or her) who is without sin amongst you cast the first stone," she would have been literally stoned to death in less than fire minutes ! No, sir ! The good citizens of Marysville must be like Caesar's wife, above suspicion, or else we'll have none of them. If any woman will be such a fool as to have her character assailed, the scandalized public, especially the ladies, will hiss and hiss until the ...

gfct fiilg Jjwtal. ■U4HMI , AMa ayt with utaikrmmi >MkbM. Ottr reader* will doubtless remember a bloody light which occurred in Hawsville, Kentucky, a year or to ago, between two parties, one of which wa% headed by a man named Lowe. Lowe fought with the desperation of a tiger on that occasion, killing, if we remember rightly, several of hie foea—himself wearing a coat-of-mail which protected hi* body from the •hower of bullets poured upon him by his enemies. He was captured, however, and lodged in jail, where, while chained to his cell floor, he wag shot dead, a large dumber of balls piercing his head. With this explanation, which is given for the purpose of bringing the affair more readily to the remembrance of the reader, we will proceed to give the sequal to that most desperate and bloody fight, which we take from the Louisville Journal: The steamer Grey Gagel arrived from Henderson, yesterday, and from the officers and passengers we obtain the particulars of another t...

Up-Country Correspondence^ [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 24 March 1860

Up-Country Correspondence^ RID BLcrr, March 18, 1860. EDITO* APPEAL :—As everybody, from every "one horse" village and raining camp, have taken it into their cranium! to become self-constituted "regular corespsndents" of the APPBAL, I think that Red Bluff should be represented in the category (not of one horse towns, but) of correspondents; I therefore constitute myself a committee of one to see the business did. Although but a new "arriver" here, yet I consider myself a fixed institution, and M such, consider myself entitled to all the rights and privileges of the first squatters ; and calculate to brag on the Bluff as long as she's got a "red." The fact is, you fellers down among the sloughs (musquitoe factories) don't appreciate Red Bluff—l tell you it is a "dern'd" line place —a "dern'd" businessstirring, fast-growing, and go-abead place; and bound to b« a "dern'd" large place, unless the Sacramento river should dry up, or the lower end be swallowed up by one of your "tarnal" ea...
