"C ELECTRICAL XOVELTIES. A nhysicians cane is made with an electric lamp and a storage battery in its head and serves many of the purposes of a lantern. An electrical stop-watch has been tested in a "bicycle rake where it determined the winner althrough he was only one-hundredth of a second ahead. Edison's electric percussion drill can be worked at any distance up to 3 miles from the dynamo and will bore 3 inches a minute into the hardest granite. The new electric log is claimed to givo much more reliable measurements of the speed of fast vessels than the ordinary ap- paratus. An ingenious camera for photo- graphing the internal organs of men or animals has been invented in Germany. It is cylindrical in shape is contained in a rubber tube and Las two hemispherical shutters and two minute incandescent lamps. The livery business of Mr. L. J. Lockett has increased to such an extent recently that he is crowded for room and is buildinp- a row of stalls across the vacant lot east of the stable.
