AN HOUR AT "THE GARDEN PALACE." [Newspaper Article] — The Grenfell Record and Lachlan District Advertiser — 20 September 1879

I AN HOUR AT ' THE GARDEN PALACE.' (By F. S. W.) .1 ust now, the topic uppermost in the minds of the pooplo is the opening of tlio Sydney Inter national Exhibition, or, as the'building has been officially named, 'The Garden Palace.' It was I not my good fortune (or otherwise) to bo made j an ' animated sandwich ' by the pressure of tho I crowd, on tho opening day. Circumstances I necessitated my seeing what I did see of the I Exhibition a few days before the building was I thrown open for public inspection. Tho ball ! had not yet rung for the green curtain to riao I on the International Show ; all behind the foot I lights was a sceno of confusion : the property I men up to their eyes in bewilderment ; the scono-painteys putting in the finishing touchoB, and the actors preparing to pose for the first act of the drama. Many of my readers will doubt less avuil themselves of the liberality of ' Cobb ' and the Railway Department to take a run down, and see the:Exlubition in its perfec ti...
