The Rfd Cross bociety- held it* usual fortnightly meeting on Thursday last in Mechanics' Hall, whan several new members were welcomed and the names received of others who, though unable to attend the meetings express ed their willingness to sew at their homes- The following garments were handed in since last meeting :-30 flannel shirts, 7.suits pyjamas, 34 pairs iocks. Among the donations were Mrs Madigan, 2 pillows; Mrs Cameron, 1 pillow and'case; Mrs Aitken, 1 pillow ; Mrs Bryan, 2 pairs socks; Mrs Richie, 2 pairs socks; Miss Tworney, 5s; Mrs Webster, 3 washers and 1 helmet; Miss Bolger, 4 towels. PENSHURST PIONEER'S DEATH The death occurrei at the Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday last of Mr Timothy McCarthy at the age of 78 years. Mr McCarty has been a resi dent of Penbhurst for oter 40 years. He was a native of Cork, Ireland. Hia wife predeceased him about thirty years ago, since -when he has lived a very lonely life, with no relatives it is understood nearer than two brothers in Ireland.
