Firstly, voters mnst vote for all the candidates, numbering each in the order they are preferred. 1 That is to say, with four candidates say, A., B., C., and D., on a voting paper the electors must place the | number opposite each name in the rotation he selects the candidate, for by this system no vote is 1 >st. but is finally'allotted to one of two out of the four candidates... Results of No-License in New Zealand. Address given by Mr R. A. Henry, organising secretary of the No License movement, in the Goulburn Valley Electorate, in tlje Public-hall, Nathalia, on Monday night the 16th inst. The first Local Option Poll look place in March 1894, when the Clutha electorate carried no license by an overwhelming majority of 1642, against only 487 for con tinuance. No-License, does not, as many suppose, mean closing every hotel in the districthotels as ac commodation houses are a public necessity, and as accommodation houses they may remain ; no-license means that no one, pu'olician, grocer, Colonial wine maker, or any one else shall- have a license to sell alcoholic liquor as a beverage within a no-licensed district. Clutha, includes three t nvns and many villages. Balclutha, the princi pal town, was known under license as the drunken centre of a drnnken' district. Cases of crim£ influenced by drink during the last 10 years under license, 251 ; cases during the...

"The Bilious Habit." HUSBAND WIFE IN SYDNEY FIND A REMEDY. [Newspaper Article] — Nathalia Herald and Picola, Narioka, Kotupna and Moira Advertiser — 24 November 1914

"The Bilious Habit." HUSBAND WIFE IN SYDNEY FIND A REMEDY. Suppose the liver was put upon its trial before a judge and jury. What charges tens of thousands of people could bring against it of hav ing been the killjoy of their lives. They would give evidence of the innumerable headaches, the agonis ing attacks of biliousness, the feeling of utter prostration, and the havoc to good tempers caused by liverish ness. Before sentence was passed by the judge, the liver would urge in its own defence- that-all- too - frequently it had not been properly treated, that often when it needed a tonic none was given, and therefore its re bellion was not surprising. It is just as well, then, to keep on; good terms with the liver by taking at the first sign, of its revolt, Mother Seigel's Syrup, the remedy which for 40 years has given relief to count less sufferers from liverishness. Note testimony from'Mrs M Fox, 107, Rochford Street, Newton, Syd ney,. N.S.W., on February 24th, 1914 —"Your most exce...
