Bobcat on the loose University Relations Best known as a demented, decible-breaking biker in Police Academy II and III, comedian Bob "Bobcat" Goldthwait has been branded one of the most popular of today's "psycho comics." Psycho comedy, as it's called, is comedy in its most basic and bizarre form. It's the Pee Wee-Kinison-Mandel style of humor. Psycho comics scream and we laugh. They cry, we laugh. They twitch, we laugh. They wear funny suits, put rubber gloves on their heads, and drink Tab by the six packs. We laugh: If you haven't indulged in the paranormal, psycho-comic ex¬ perience, you'll have your chance when Goldthwait brings his onstage show to Penn St _^ ate-Behrend October 24th. The fun starts at 9 p.m. in the college's Erie Hall. Tickets for the event, which is currently being co-sponsored by the college and K104 FM, are $12 and are currently available at the National Record Mart in the Millcreek Mall, at Penn State-Behrend's Reed Union Building, and at Gannon Uni...

Sweet Dreams by Patty Landry Contributing Writer Have you ever dreamt about someone coming to your room at night to read you a bedtime story and feed you brownies and milk? Have.you ever felt so tired from studying that you just need someone to tuck you in your bed? My two roomates, much to their dismay, had this luxury last Tuesday night. Two males from second floor Niagara came up to our apartment and introduced themselves as their "tuck-ins" for that night. Because they were surprised and embarrassed, they both had a difficult time admitting that they had a good time. My other roomate and I, who set up the lovely gesture, easily admit that it was quite enjoyable. The second floor Niagara men set up tuck-ins September 29th until the 31st mainly through the hours of eleven until two in the morning. It was set up as a fundraiser for the floor. It is a different way to raise money; much better than the incoming freshman, but the other colleges, such as Maryland University,...

Collegian by Robert Famham Collegian Staff Writer The television ads for Molly Ringwald's new film The Pickup Artist, make it seem an appealing comic confection. They show the . title character, an irrepressible would-be Casanova named Jack Jericho (Robert Downey), hitting on attractive women with lines like, "Has anyone ever told you that you have the face of a Botticelli and the body of a Degas?" He'sas happy as a clam until he meets the girl of his dreams, Randy Jensen (Ringwald), and is stunned by her indifference to him. He, of course, then feels even more compelled to pursue her. It looks as if it could prove to be a decent variant on the ancient boy-meets-girl, boy-losesgirl, boy-gets-girl-back-just-intime-for-the-closing-credits plot. That's the advertisement. As for the movie, well, so much for truth in advertising. The makers of The Pickup Artist seem to have reached their limits in coming up with enough good material for one TV spot and left themselves little ...

Strangeways Here We _Comfe by Justin F. Baxter Collegian Staff Writer Everyone has their problems. And some people choose to sing about them. With the release of their new album, "Strangeways Here We Come", the Smiths' singer and lyricist, Morrisey, is once again singing of all his life's problems, quirks, insecurities, and his seemingly terrible track record in the game of love. Morrisey can't "bear to hear the word love", he has a "girlfriend in a coma" and doesn't even want to see her, and once he "dreamt that somebody loved him". He even wishes somebody an "Unhappy Birthday". Not very pleasant topics but they're all topics that most people our age can relate to. This is reflected in their popularity. The album echoes with the fine guitar playing of Johnny Marr. His playing has improved greatly since the days of "Meat is Murder" and "The Queen is Dead". It seems that Marr just couldn't handle the underconfideht rumblings of Morrisey. As soon as this album was completed, h...

Weekend Reunion by Rebecca Macey Collegian Staff Writer On the weekend of September 25, 26, and 27, Behrend College sponsored its fourth annual parents' weekend. These three special days gave students' parents a chance to come visit the campus and to see their children. For many students, going to college was their first experience in being separated from their parents for any period of time longer than two weeks. Thanks to parents' weekend, families were able to spend some quality time together after being apart. A wide varitey of activities -were scheduled to take place during the course of the weekend. Families had the options of attending sporting events, buffet dinners, campus tours, and a "student amateur night", to name just a few activities. Parents were greeted Friday evening at a welcoming reception in the Reed Building. Afterwards, they had a buffet dinner, student amateur night, a pep rally and bonfire, and the movie "Han¬ nah and Her Sisters" to choose from to a...

Dinner is served by Kristen Delouchry Collegian Staff Writer UMMM.-.Just smell the heavenly aroma of the perfectly seasoned chicken, roasting in the " oven. Ooooh, and imagine a heaping mound of freshly whipped mashed potatoes, complete with melted butter meandering down the sides of the creamy mound. Fresh green beans and homemade baked bread finishes off this delectable setting. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to tease with thoughts of such exquisite culinary delights. I_.too, know how long it's been since we've had a homecooked meal. Luckily, The Student Government Association and The Office of Student Services have rendered the problem of T. V. dinners and pizza. They've announced their 3rd annual "Dinner For Six Strangers". Staff members have opened their homes (and cupboards) .in hopes oi creating the faculty-student relationship Behrend is known for. The sorting of guests according to their majors and intests should provide an evening of enthusiastic conversation among...

The '' Cure: ' . Kiss - "W_^_t_^ "¦} ¦ • ¦ ¦ Kiss Me_^Kis&Slfe- ¦ - ' ¦ . . mm by Matt Filippi Collegian Staff Writer "Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me"- The Cure A good thing is never easily forgotten... The Cure's new album "Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me" is definitely one of those good things. The Cure is a band which you cannot base an opinio on after listening to one of their songs. If diversity is what you want, then The Cure is the band for you. Their lyrics range anywhere from stories you would never repeat to your mother, such as the lyrics in the song "The Kiss", to lyrics that show the effects that God has upon Robert Smith, the lead vocalist and guitarist for The Cure. Robert Smith defines the problem with most relationships in the song "How Beautiful You Are...". He talks about a girl he knew and thought he loved. But one day as he and his girlfriend were walking in Paris they ran into a weary, grayish man embarrassing his two sons. The man and his children were ...

by Anonymous She smiles. Cars honk and splash slush He's bumped closer by a hurriec executive as if to say "Why not—what's tc lose." He growls to himself, envisioning the executive's happy two-car-garage-family, and realizes he's looking for excuses. Why Him? His ego rises and falls like a glass helium balloon, hovering, wavering in the icy city wind within reach. He feels the urge to grab it and protect it, keep it warm under bis coat until he can get to his flat and hide it in the back of the closet in it's nest among the sweaters where no one can touch it. Why didn't I leave it there? A whine and a rumble and the slamming of doorsand his answer is gone. The question still lingers but his ego does not. People crush and shatter the broken glass into the icy sidewalk. He waits for his bus and wonders. < Why? He knows there's no answer and laughs at the stupidity of his owe question. He thinks of his fear: and jealousies and laughter begins to invade his body. The P...
