NEWS OF THE QRJ ) ER Meeting Held , Tuesday Evening , January 23 Brother Deveaux suggested-the Board of Directors devise some means of doing away with a middleman in the booking of entertainments given by union organizations . There are from 80 to 100 such entertainments given during the season in New York where the agent gets the difference between his charge for the bill and what he pays the acts . This , he thought , could be saved if acts could book direct . Brother Cooke said the , Board had given this much consideration but found it evolves itself into having a salesman to sell the acts to entertainment committees , meaning a man who could say what he thought a good act and what not , which would breed dissension and soon work toward disrupting the order . He- added if any member had any plan whereby this dissension could be eliminated the Board would be pleased to hear of it any time .
