Aeizona Sentinel SATURDAY, . JULY 10, 18S0 national Repnllican TioKet ! FOR PRESIDENT . James A. Garfield, OF OHIO. FOR VICE PRESIDENT: Chester A. Arthur. OF NEW YORK. Fidelity to Party and Political Honesty. There exists in the minds of many public men a confusion of ideas as to the real character of republican government. They accept nominations at ilie hands of a party, and as soon ns ihey take possession of their office they begin to put in practice the principles of a "personal govern ment." They make appointments and persue policies that are the results of their earn private per sonal desires. This is simply "personal government," and it falls short of the monarchical idea only because of its lack of scopu so far as it goes it is monarchi cal. The practice contains the very essence of all anti-republican systems of government. In a republic individuals are never elected to office that they may put into practice their own personal notions, aua this is evident in all our methods...

kizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - JULY 11, 1880 Monal RepMican Met! FOR PRESIDENT ames A, Garfield OF OHIO. FOR VICE PRESIDENT: Chester A Arthur- OP NEW YORK. Garfield's Acceptance. General Garfield's letter of ac ceptance is a document without a flaw. There is neither conceal ment nor exaggeration in it from beginning to end. His language is terse and well chosen, and his ideas run on all fours with the prevalent sentiment of the major ity of the American people. Up on the Chinese question he is very explicit. This issue is the one of all others which more nearly concerns the Pacific slope. It bears directly upon our social, industrial, educational and reli gious system, and its solution, agreeably to the genius of Wes tern civilization, is the aim and hope of our entire population xne tepuDiican piatiorm was sufficiently explicit upon that question, but whilst it dealt with it in general terms, General Gar field has formulated the policy of his party in that regard and given expression...

STEWART, OF PIMA COUNTT. Concerning Fractional Currency The New York "Tribune" stnfes that the propriety of re viving the fractional currency is being discussed in Washington. The facilities offered by the new system of registering packages by mail, for making purchase of small articles at a distance, makes it very desirable that then should be in existence some circulating medium of smaller denomination 1han the dollar, which may be sent by mail. Major Powell, Chief Clerk of the Treasury De pa! tment proposes to meet this demand by issuing greenbacks of the denominaton of ones and twos, which may be divisible into halves and quarters.
