CONTAMINATION OF THE RIVER. TO-THE EDITOR. , Sir,—I am .instructed- by my committee to write to you're state ments of members of our Club at our' meeting last Saturday night. Three members weie some few miles up the. river on Saturday, 12th, a;ndsaw scores of carcasses of poisoned rabbits, some in the river and others close to the banks. On the night of the 16th some members were below the Railway Bridge and saw putrid carcasses of calves lying in a lagoon close to the bank ; the carcasses would be washed into our water supply with the first rise of the river level. We maintain that the land-owner re sponsible for the above danger to the public health, should be com pelled to burn, or in some way de stroy the above contamination' of the river. -Yours etc., JOHN L. " In the Valley of Decision." [Newspaper Article] — The Independent — 8 January 1915

" In the Valley of Decision." At the evening service at Holy j Trinity on Sunday, Rev. J. B, ! E'Jwards delivered an address of deeply religious and patriotic fer vency. The text selected was Jofl iii., 13th verse : " Multitudes, mrltitudes in the valley of deci:-ion ! for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision." The text was taken from the list section of the prophecy, that in which the prophet was viewing th.- gathering of the nations to war. He broke out into the poetic language of the text, " Multi'.n les, &c." Now, it seemed to the rev. gentleman thut the application of the text to their situation was almost .startling. "The similarity bet .veto the pic ture of propbccy and ■ ur..situation in the valley of Kuropeau slaugh'er and bloodshed in the year of our Lord 1'J15. is ce.Ui..ly patent," said the preacher. " The-either ing of the nations to war, the valley of slaugh'er and suffering— these were things of patent simil arity." But they had this thought —...
