The Wallaroo Times. WALLAROO, SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 1882. [Newspaper Article] — Wallaroo Times — 19 August 1882

iVAjjJjAROO, SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 1882. Intimation has been given of the re duciion.in railway passenger fares, which is to date from the 1st of September next. The change, however, will not be so great as appears at first sight; for although the reduction is something like 50 per cent, sti)i it must be remembered that this is comparing the new rates with the charges for single fares at present, so that on the journey from the Peninsula the saving will not be anything like 50 per.cent on the present rate of return fares, as retu>*n tickets are to be entirely done away with. But the Government have a great deal yet to accomplish in the matter of railway tariffs before they can expect to give anything approaching satisfaction. The charges made on some classe...
